AW 2013 Trend Reminder

So with New York Fashion Week in full swing for Spring/Summer 2014, I thought I'd pick a few of my favourite trends for the up-coming Autumn season.

Punk Rebellion
This season is all about drama; and it starts here. Some have labelled this trend "Anarchic" and it has been everywhere from Donatella Versace's "Vunk" collection, which embodies the modern punk, to Saint-Laurent's "Californian Grunge" by Hedi Slimane. Rebellious is in. From vibrant yellows and red, to tartan, chains, studded leather and spikes, here are a few of my favourite looks...

Coats - Oversized & Pastels
There were two trends that stood out in terms of coats for the AW 2013 season. The first of these is oversizing; the bigger the better. This look is all about textures and creating long, elegant silhouettes. Mixing textures has been a popular feature of this season's look, with mohair tipped to be the hottest texture around. This Stella McCartney "Edith" double breasted wool coat is one of my favourites.

The other big trend for this season's outerwear came in the form of pastel-coloured coats. It has been seen on the catwalks for Céline, Victoria Beckham, Carven, Emilio Pucci, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Mugler, Mulberry, and many more...What's certain is that these illuminating colours are sure to be a pick-me-up for when the weather turns.

Menswear - Prints & Shapes
This trend has arrived in many forms - from menswear fabrics like houndstooth, pinstripes & herringbone, seen on catwalks for Lanvin, Tommy Hilfiger, Stella McCartney, Rag & Bone, Sacai, and Dolce & Gabbana, to the slouchy trousers, boxy & oversized tailoring as seen on the catwalks foChloé, Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Chanel, & Trussardi.
